  • iPhone 17 ios version 26.6 CarPlay not connecting and/or disconnecting randomly

After a number of years of flawless operation on my 2014 Acura MDX I've started to have issues connecting CarPlay on my iphone with the Vline-2. I've gone through all the steps in the videos, etc. on the forums and support site to reset the connection. It starts working after that but after a few car start/stop cycles it stops again. I've tried the USB connection and having similar issues but haven't spent as much time testing that connection. I then updated to the latest firmware and OS on the Vline-2 but the problem persists. If I go to the carplay settings on the Vline-2 it shows as paired but fails on the connect stop and goes into a retry cycle. I'm not sure if the problem is with the Vline-2 or the iPhone. Maybe the version of IOS? At a loss at the current time.

    Hello. Please do the following:
    1. Factory reset your VLine:

It will also erase all Bluetooth connections. Please note that if you installed any apps on the VLine itself, you will erase them.
    2. Delete all CarPlay connections from the iPhone, restart the iPhone, and try to pair and connect again.

Before I do a full factory reset I am going to fix the Screen Time setting on the iPhone mentioned in the video and forget the phone and reset the wifi and bluetooth connection settings. If that fails I'll go to the drastic step of a factory reset. I'll respond with the results. One question. Will a factory reset take the firmware and O.S. back to the versions when purchased or will the updates since then be maintained. I'm hoping not to require multiple updates to the O.S. and firmware to get current as I purchased the vline-2 several years ago. Thanks for the quick response.

I did everything recommended above but still having the same issue. It connects correctly after I forget the phone and vline-2 connection and BT re-pair. Unfortunately the connection only works for short periods of time. If the car sits overnight and then restarted the carplay fails on the vline-2 at the connection phase. The phone shows paired but connection will not succeed. The only way to fix is to go through the forget and repair process. Is there a way to collect log debug data to allow support team to see what is happening at the connect failure?

For anyone experiencing similar problems with newer iphones with IOS 26. Nothing has resolved the issues I'm having and it appears to be iPhone related. I have found a fairly quick workaround that makes the Vline2 Carplay connect correctly. If after I start the car and Vline2 is active I turn off the iPhone Bluetooth and then turn it back on Carplay connects correctly and starts working. I have done it multiple times and it seems to work consistently. Not the best, but at least a simple way to get Carplay to connect .vs. the extreme measures recommended by the GROM team.
