  • 2009 LS Series (600hL) - intermittently stops working of late - display or power?

    V2SC5.0.0.0 (27.53.L32)

Device has been installed for many months working normally - installed in glove compartment. As warned, I was very careful with the display port cable so as to not kink or put any pressure on it.

A few months back, when I would start car, the device would not "work" - I'd change input but VLINE wasn't available at all (not a black screen, just not there at all). When I first started troubleshooting, I would disconnect the display and reconnect to no avail. There were definitely times it went out where I could see the green power light on inside the device case. Later I would disconnect 'power' bracket and reconnect. For either of these solutions, I wouldn't know if it worked without power cycling the car. Most of the time this would work and it would be back.

Living with it for a while, it started to become more frequent. I resorted to leaving the glove compartment open. It seemed when I closed it, no matter how gentle I was, sooner or later the problem would return.

I'm pretty sure this is a physical connectivity issue. I just don't know if this is display cable, power cable, splice at reverse camera? I've thought about testing power with voltmeter on wire bracket but haven't yet. If there's any chance it's a loose solder on the board - for either the power bracket OR display port, not sure how to test that without dismantling it. I've also considered pulling the stereo back out and checking the splices.

So, I guess I'm looking for the best step by step approach to troubleshooting (unless this description rings a bell).

    Thanks in advance!

If you are saying that with the open glove compartment, you do not experience the disconnection/not found issue, it might be that the problem is with the power interface cable MCFTOY and the way it connects to the VLine VL2 system or to the back of the stereo.
