Tech tip - where to mount the VLine or VLite main module
It is one of the most common questions - where to mount the VLine VL2 / VLite VT2 main module so it stays out of sight. There is a tendency to hide it inside the dashboard, behind the stereo. However, we strongly insist on mounting the main "brain" unit in an accessible location such as the glove compartment.
This way the unit will stay secure and out of sight, yet you still will be able to access the unit and connections in case you need to update the firmware using USB stick, or check video and power cable connections. The Bluetooth Wi-Fi antenna will stay secure, and there will be no metal parts that can affect the Bluetooth signal.
You can also mount the VLine unit to the top of the glove compartment if your vehicle glove compartment design allows it. To sum it up, the glove compartment mount will ensure:
1. Easy access to the unit when needed;
2. Safe position of the video cable and power cable, no sharp bends or cuts;
3. Safe position of the Bluetooth antenna, no metal affecting the Bluetooth signal.
Burying the unit inside the dashboard will make the unit inaccessible, and can lead to damaged connection cables and Bluetooth antenna, causing potential problems for wireless connection of CarPlay and Android Auto.
