This is possibly the best product I have ever bought. It turned my 2004 Toyota Land Cruiser into a modern vehicle. Should be able to get another 250,000 miles out of it with this. Awesome product!

I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid with JBL audio and wanted to upgrade the stock audio to an android head unit. I first tried one of those tesla screen style head units, but had to return it because it failed spectacularly, in particular with respect to the sound, so much static it was horrendous. Then I learned about Grom Audio Vline which was compatible with my vehicle and decided to give it a try. The installation is unbelievably easy, but also modular. I first installed the main unit, you need to pry out the trim piece around the radio with a plastic tool and then undo 6 bolts (be careful not to drop them into the radio cavity). Even though for this unit you need to only change 2 connectors, I suggest unplugging everything (5 connectors 2 antenna connectors) from the radio first to pull it out and have more room. Also put a rag onto the shifter handle before pulling out the radio, otherwise risk scratching it as I unfortunately did. The kit from Grom supplies 2 Y-cables, one video and one audio as I understand. First route the vline-side of the cables to the glove box from the radio cavity, it's super easy in the Highlander, lots of space inside to do it just by hand without any tools if you open the glove box fully as if changing the cabin filter. Then reconnect all the radio connectors and install the radio back, connect to vline and you are basically ready to test it. I did not have to disconnect the 12V battery and this install took maybe 15 min at the most! Vline started working right after the initialization as per the manual, no issues, CD-changer still works. The screen contents does seem a bit pixelated depending on the app, but it's not outrageous, street names etc are still readable. Even though I saw other users reported touch screen precision issues, I observed none, it's super responsive for me even for the smallest buttons/objects to press. At first it failed to register a touch in the bottom right corner of the screen, but once I pressed it hard there one time it started working well. iPhone Carplay and Android Auto connected wirelessly without issues on the first try. I got my unit via a group buy, it already had Android 12 preinstalled, so I did not have to upgrade / update anything. Android Auto had a glitch in maps with buttons/menus not showing up and no split screen, but I fixed that by switching resolution in AA settings from 170 to 165. I installed and routed the GPS and mic few days later, you don't have to unbolt your radio for that, just route to your glove box, same goes for the backup camera, this was so convenient for me to be able to spread this install over few days without a hassle. The sound is much better than via a bluetooth radio dongle, and no static at all as opposed to how it went with a noname chinese head unit. Also, it surprised me that despite inferior processor and RAM, Vline is more nimble than a chinese head unit I tried before, app installation is very fast, I suspect because of better heat management and better quality internal components. I think the ease of installation, the level of support, as well as the fact that all your stock A/C / audio equipment / trip info etc works as before well worth the high price of this unit.

I have a 2005 Highlander with JBL audio and Nav. The Navigation is useless much else. The calendar stoped working after 2022, LOL. I needed a upgrade. Yes I tried the Teslar head unit on Ebay, but had to return it with respect to the sound, I had alternator whine. No one, ever China could help with that. So I found the Vline on Toyota Nation. I am so happy with it. The technology is out standing. Plus I can keep the look of the HL burl wood console. Better yet I can still play CD's on long trips. GROM is the real deal and the support is great.
